The Seed Sector in Developing Countries: A Framework for Performance Analysis

This report is a comparative analysis of available documented evidenced of past and current seed projects.  Links between small farmers and the formal seed sector are identified and explored, and a discussion of how successfully making improved seed available to small farmers using organizational requirements.  Evidence is presented from a wide range of seed projects and programmes in different developing countries to assess the contexts in which organizational approaches have been successful for the seed sector. Finally national economic and policy is considered on its implications for the secto to reach small farmers.
